PNEUMATIC COMPRESSION DEVICES

Many wound care practitioners are also experts on treating a subset of difficult lymphatic and circulatory issues. Lymphedema, Chronic Venus Insufficiency (“CVI”) and other circulatory diseases cause swelling of one or more extremities as a result of impediments in the circulatory or lymphatic systems. Lifestyle has a particularly strong understanding of the use of Pneumatic Compression Devices, commonly known as “Lymphedema pumps,” to address these difficult medical conditions.

Pneumatic Compression Devices give the lymphatic and/or circulatory systems a boost by remediating Stasis, which is the stoppage or slowing of blood or lymphatic fluid. As is so often the case, there is not necessarily one product that fits all patients.  Lifestyle’s knowledge of Lymphedema, CVI, and other circulatory diseases enables Lifestyle to match the ideal pump to the particular patient for home use.  Lifestyle also spends the time necessary to educate the patient on the home use of the pneumatic compression pump.  Lifestyle never rushes because proper education simply cannot be rushed.

Lifestyle’s focus on follow-up care is especially important for lymphedema/edema patients.  Physicians need to know whether their patients are compliant and following the prescribed plan-of-care.  Patients need to be empowered as partners in lymphedema/edema management.  Lifestyle serves a key role in accomplishing both of these critical tasks.
